Prediction UEFA Champions League: Lyon vs Bayern Munich [Semi-Finals]

When you look at history in years from now, people will still talk about how Bayern Munich beat Barcelona 8-2. An absolutely extraordinary result that I’m sure even shocked a ruthless Bayern team.

That’s the perfect word to describe them: ruthless. That’s what they’ve shown over years of domination in Germany, and that’s what they’ve shown this season.

Their season didn’t start well, and they got rid of their head coach, but Hansi Flick has turned it all around. Bayern scores goals, a lot of them, and they have talent all over the pitch that can produce. They’re arguably the best team in the world at the moment, and they have such confidence that you can see in their play every time they go forward.

In the quarter-finals, Bayern looked like they were capable of scoring with every attack, and they could have gone on and had more than 8. Yes, it was a terrible defensive performance from Barcelona, but take nothing away from Bayern. They were clinical, and their hunger to win was an amazing sight to see.

Lyon was fantastic against a strong, heavily favored Manchester City in their quarter-finals game. Huge underdogs, they were underestimated and overlooked by everyone, and I’m sure Man City themselves, although they wouldn’t want to admit that.

Lyon has beaten Juventus and Man City to reach here, and I’m sure Bayern won’t make the same mistakes that these two did. Defensively they were solid against City, although City should have done more in the final third to create. Lyon took their chances and was well deserved for the 3-1 victory.

Like the other semi-final, the pressure is on one team to win. They’ll be underdogs in this one, and while I don’t see them winning, it is a one-off game and anything can happen in football.
