We are now coming up on the last few regular season seeding games before the playoffs and for most teams, the bubble has been a success, while others have not fared so well.
Many of the teams left are looking to improve their seedings while others are still battling for a playoff spot. In this article we are going to be talking about two eastern conference teams that have already clinched the playoffs. The Philadelphia 76ers and the defending champion Toronto Raptors.
Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers
PREDICTION: Raptors Win
The 76ers have lost their last two games, and in each of those games, they were missing stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Simmons was reportedly out for the remainder of the season after opting to get the surgery done on his knee. The loss of Simmons will greatly affect the remainder of their season and will definitely hurt them in this matchup. The loss of Embiid has made this team significantly worse, even though they still have stayed competitive in the last two matchups. If Embiid is ruled out for the game against the Toronto Raptors, then I don’t see a way that the Raptors lose this ball game. The Raptors have been on a tear in the bubble¹, winning all but one of their seeding games so far. They have an incredibly talented head coach in Nick Nurse as well as one of the best bench crews in the NBA. Their team chemistry is also unmatched and has played a huge role in a lot of their wins so far this season. O.G. Anunoby has also taken a giant leap forward since the basketball season was postponed, he is been playing incredible defense and has improved his handling and shooting. This team was good all-around before the break began and now that their young players are beginning to rapidly develop, it will make this team almost impossible to defend against. To make matters worse for other teams, they are an amazing defensive team as well from top to bottom, as they rank second in the league in defensive rating. They are also fully healthy but may rest some of their starters in this game due to them preparing for a deep postseason run. If the Raptors don’t sit any of their starters in this game, then I see players like Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, and Pascal Siakam taking over and winning the game handily. I am taking the Raptors in this game unless they rest the majority of their starters.
