La Liga Predictions Matchday-28 [June 11-14, 2020]

La Liga’s return is a big win for fans of Spanish football around the world.

After the three month break due to the Coronavirus, players have been itching to get back on the pitch and enjoy the beautiful game of football. Likewise, many fans are also ready to watch games physically in stadiums, but the Spanish league is just not ready for that yet.
According to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, “it would be unfair to some teams if only a select few will have fans in their stadiums”. Jose Antonio Chachaza, the Managing Director of La Liga India is of the same view, believing the effects of Covid-19 on football will be felt even in the next football season.
With 11 match fixtures waiting to be played¹, the La Liga still has some entertainment in the works in 2020. Clubs have begun group training with up to 10 players allowed. Sanitary precautions have been made, and the CSD (National Sports Council) of Spain is heavily involved in the reopening process.
The Segunda Division is also resuming at the same time, so fans and players alike will have quite a variety of matches to keep up with.

This article is my humble opinion, it is not gambling advice.

Matches to watch

Beyond that though, you need to know what matches are worth your bet in the continued season of La Liga. Today, I have gathered some expert information on a few matches in the league to help you find the right bets, and beat the bookies! The first match to play close attention to is Athletic Bilbao vs. Atlético Madrid.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Atlético Madrid

Bilbao Form

On the 14th of June, the sparks will aggressively fly as Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid will face off at the San Mames stadium in their first matchup since the advent of the coronavirus outbreak. Both teams are extremely formidable and have some feats that make the outcome quite blurry on a first glance.
Los Leones (The Lions – Athletic Bilbao) have a great recent track record from their superb performance during the Copa del Rey. By beating Villarreal and Real Valladolid in their previous La Liga games, they were beginning a mild streak before things suddenly had to change.
However, this season has just not shown that Bilbao has what it takes to face Atletico Madrid in a surefire victory. Granted, they might still snatch a goal, or make things extremely difficult for Atletico Madrid.

Atlético Madrid Strengh

Unfortunately for them, the odds are tipped in Atletico’s favor. I’ll explain why.
Los Rojiblancos (Atletico) is a team that has always managed to hold its own in moments of extreme courage and dedication. In the faceoff against Bilbao, Sime Vrsaljko will not be present to support his team with his essential defensive skills. However, this shouldn’t be too much of a blow for them as Atletico still has Saul Niguez playing in this match. His top performance has him ranked as number 98 on the top 5 European League defensive players.
Atletico is our predicted victor for this match thanks to their 10 Copa del Rey trophies, and experience in the intense rivalry with local rival, Real Madrid. El Madrileno is an exciting derby to watch out for in the world of football.
Atletico Madrid has been led to two Champions League finals with their head coach, Diego Simeone. However, Real Madrid has always managed to secure the win.

My Pick

In 2014, the Argentine master tactician managed to secure a La Liga trophy with the team. He is a vital element of their bolstering success, and his input to their performance will help them keep the edge over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
Keep in mind though, thanks to the recent events, teams, players, coaches and almost every factor present in a football match has recently been disrupted. Therefore, some unexpected factors can drastically affect the results. Strictly from a theoretical and historical perspective, Atletico Madrid should secure this win.

Mallorca vs. Barcelona

Mallorca is a team that most wouldn’t see as a potential threat in any form, but things are not as they once were. A long break in football can often disrupt or elevate the performance of a team. Regardless of any surprise changes due to the coronavirus, Mallorca is still a team with some threat. An 18th place position and 25 points acquired in 27 games really won’t be doing them any favors in this matchup.
As for Barcelona, with 58 points accrued and the top spot in the league table, there really isn’t much Mallorca can do to stop them. However, they need to use this first game to put a marker and show their dominance against Mallorca. Depending on how good the game is, Barca can set a precedent for the remaining games of La Liga’s season. There aren’t many excuses for Barcelona to struggle or win a measly victory. This match will be a full dominance, so your bet should probably be polarizing in favor of the Catalans.

Getafe vs. Granada

The historical results from each matchup against each other clearly shows Getafe taking the win. This season, Getafe has managed to stay ahead of Granada with 46 points and 5th place on the league table. Additionally, Getafe has Angel Rodriguez², a top scorer with a great conversion rate of 28%. Also, Getafe has Jason, a 25-year-old right-winger with a great rounded skillset.
On the other hand, Granada is a team that has steadily been outperformed by Getafe throughout this season. That being said, things aren’t solidly clear. So, it’s best to lean towards a double chance bet in case Granada surprises us.

Last Game Sevilla vs. Real Betis

At 3rd place on the La Liga table compared to Real Betis’ 12th place standing, Sevilla has had a relatively consistent performance this season. The Seville derby will likely result in a victory for Sevilla. But, things are just not that simple these days. Earlier in the season, Real Betis managed to end their six-match winless drought with a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid. Therefore, Sevilla will have to watch out for a surprising performance from Real Betis. Regardless, I still believe the match will be in favor of Sevilla.
