Another tasty encounter takes place on Sunday in the EPL as Pep Guardiola brings his unstoppable Man City side to the Emirates, to take on his former understudy Mikel Arteta’s struggling Arsenal.

Arsenal vs Man City

Arsenal sits tenth in the league after 24 games, way off their aspirations of European football, especially at this stage of the season.

They are a team that has struggled all season to find a consistent performance, and even when they are playing well, they don’t finish teams off. Defensively there are still weaknesses in the side that need to be addressed, and it could be a bad day at the Emirates for them if the Man City of recent shows up.

Aubameyang scoring a hat-trick against Leeds in their last EPL game should give him the confidence boost he needs to kickstart his season again. The captain hasn’t shown what he is capable of enough this season, but he does enjoy a goal against Man City and Arteta will be looking for him to provide the goods again.

Another positive for Arsenal is Kieran Tierney being fit again as he got some minutes against Benfica in midweek, but Thomas Partey is still missing from the squad [1]. Arteta has to start finding wins, and a lot of them, especially if Arsenal are to have any chance of Europe. There’s no tougher fixture than this in the league, and while Arsenal won’t be expected to win, it will bring even more pressure on Arteta, who hasn’t delivered the goods this season.

Current league leaders City have been in magnificent form since their loss to Tottenham all the way back in October.

They look unbeatable against anyone they come up against, and they look like the strongest team in the league both defensively and going forward. Having only conceded 15 goals, they have a consistent back five that has formed a formidable partnership and one that is keeping stars like Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte out of the team, with good reason.

Ilkay Gundogan has been superb in front of goal recently, but he did miss the previous game against Everton after being injured during the win against Tottenham. He looks likely to be fit for the trip to Arsenal, and that will be a huge boost to the entire City side [2].

Arsenal is likely to sit back and absorb the pressure of Man City, but this is likely what every side in the world tries and does, and it hasn’t worked this season. Pep has a team that is hungry for silverware after a season of winning nothing last term, and they are showing their dominance week in and week out.

The Premier League is theirs to lose, and they look to be getting even stronger as De Bruyne returned against Everton in their last match, while Aguero has made the bench in the last couple of weeks.

City will fancy picking up all three points here, against an Arsenal side that is currently way off.

Prediction: Manchester City Totla Over 2.5

Man City to score three looks great at the odds.

They’ve scored three or more in their last four games and scored four against Arsenal here at The Emirates back in December. They’re a team with confidence at both ends of the pitch, while Arsenal is struggling all over the park. It could be a very one-sided game that is dominated by Man City, and they have the quality everywhere to unlock a shaky Arsenal side that will struggle on the day if Man City continues to play how they’ve been playing.
