Roma is a team that people generally don’t see in the hunt for the title, and with good reason. Their last Serie A title win came in the 2000/01 season, which I’m sure will be such a disappointment for them.

Being a side that won’t be talked about for the championship like Juventus, Milan, or Inter, could work in their favor this season as they’re quietly going from strength to strength.

It’s a strange season in every league as they continue to play through covid and without fans, but Roma has as much a chance as any of the other teams fighting at the top.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been the pick of the players for Roma this season[1], and thoroughly deserves the praise he’s receiving. He’s scored eight and assisted seven goals in Serie A this season, with the player looking to be back to his best at Roma after struggling in the EPL. Roma will fancy their chances here as they’re unbeaten at home this season, while Inter’s only away defeat came in their last game.

Inter are without a doubt a talented side, but they always hit a stumbling block. It’ll be interesting to see how Conte’s men respond to their disappointing defeat midweek, despite dominating the game and creating chance after chance.

Alexis Sanchez missed an early penalty that set the tone for the game, and he’s now missed eight of his twelve penalties. The only positive if they can take any, is that AC Milan also lost which keeps Inter only one point behind, but the chance to go top of the league will have caused frustration.

Lukaku leads the goalscoring for Inter, and the player, similar to how Mkhitaryan is now, is playing some of his best football. He’s no doubt improved under Conte[2], with the Belgian saying that the manager trained him constantly for the first three months, and he’s certainly benefited from that.

Inter should be looking towards the title, because they’re as good as Juventus and probably overall better than Milan, but it’s whether they keep the challenge up all season. They have to show now that they’re here for a title fight, and respond to a disappointing result, against an in-form Roma.

Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals

Both teams have seen 12 out of their 16 games in Serie A this season go over 2.5, and it’ll be no surprise at all if this does. It has a great chance of landing and should do, considering that both teams attack and are also prone to conceding goals.

Inter lead the scoring in the league with 41 goals scored, while Roma is a close third at 35. Previous head-to-heads have seen the fixture have both teams to score 8 out of the last 9, while the last four games played at Roma’s stadium have seen the game produce over 2.5 goals. The stats favor the bet landing.
